What I have found is most people who do not like gardening tend to leave matters far to long, until they or their partners can no longer stand the sight of their unruly garden. Then out come the forgotten tools that for some reason have lost the ability to perform the task they where purchased for, this being due to a serious lack of use and general care. This seasonal problem usually occurs on one of the hottest days of the year when all the green matter in the garden has put on most growth during May. This task is then given a whole week end of self torture trying to turn a jungle into a plot similar to those at the Chelsea flower show. You just know the end result is not going to be impressive and you will end up with sunburn of a painful kind to go with the aches pains and inevitable scrapes and bumps. All for what purpose do people put themselves through this, I find it difficult to comprehend.
Let me tell you it does not have to be like this (really). If you happen to be one of these people I can give you some tips to lessen your terror of the word gardening and it’s implications. Little and often. A few years ago now I used to work as a gardener, I had 50 gardens doing 2hours once a fortnight, and all of them where neat and tidy all year round. So this is the easy way to have that garden space you really want and you may even enjoy doing it. First of all you need to sort out the grass portion or lawn. Cut this on a regular basis once a fortnight at least. Make sure the edges are cut properly once in the spring and this will last until winter, just trim the edges with edging shears not a strimmer that flirts grass in every direction. This takes care of a large portion of most gardens. This alone will make things much more bearable and will improve the look of the garden .
